PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has declared that he took over a sick nation in 2015 and described the achievements of his administration for about four years now as justifiable.
Buhari made the remark on Friday during his re-election campaign rally in Kaduna State, held at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, the capital city.
The president said in the course of his leadership of the country, he had been able to stabilise the economy and secured more towns and villages which were hitherto occupied by Boko Haram insurgents.
President Buhari, who spoke in Hausa language, stressed that one of his major achievements was not allowing criminals to have a field day with the nation's wealth.
The president had arrived in Kaduna at 3.00 p.m. in company with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole and Governors Atiku Bagudu, Abdulaziz Yari and Akinwunmi Ambode of Kebbi, Zamfara and Lagos states.
The Director General of Buhari Campaign Council, Rotimi Amaechi, in his remark, urged the people of the state to vote for President Buhari because he had done enough for Nigerians to earn a fresh mandate.
He asked the electorate to also vote for other candidates of the party.
Also speaking, the Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, said the president, since 2003, had never failed to secure "the mandatory votes" in Kaduna, saying that on February 16, he would get 80 per cent of the total votes cast in the state.
The governor promised that three states of Kaduna, Kano and Katsina would boost Buhari's chances of winning the presidential election.
He criticised the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for celebrating the visit of its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to the United States, describing the visit as a scam.
"There is nothing to celebrate. His going to America after 12 years is nothing to celebrate but, regrettably, the PDP is seeing that as an achievement," he said.
Also, speaking, the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, expressed optimism that the party and Buhari would coast to victory next month because of what the president had been able to do within a short time.
THE Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PPCO) has said that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has finally exposed President Muhammadu Buhari as a "patron of corruption" and his anti-corruption fight as "just a ruse."
The spokesman of the campaign organisation, Kola Ologbodiyan, said in a statement on Friday that Oshiomhole, by his "confession" at the Edo State APC presidential rally on Thursday that "once you join the APC, your sins are forgiven" had confirmed that the APC was a sanctuary of "treasury looters" and that President Buhari's fight against corruption was "mere racketeering."
The PPCO said: "With this revelation by Oshiomhole, who is also overburdened by huge corruption allegations for which he had to flee the country last year, it is now established that the APC is a party of thieves and thrives only on deception, lies and propaganda while swimming in an ocean of corruption.
"The fact that President Buhari, who parades as Mr Integrity, has not reprimanded Oshiomhole but openly relished the assertion, confirms his moral entanglement, accommodation and valid endorsement of corrupt practices by APC members and presidency cabal.
"Nigerians are all witnesses to how President Buhari became an advocate for Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, over the leaked tape showing him allegedly collecting bribe from contractors.
"They have also seen how Mr President, even as supposed Mr Integrity, surrounds himself with corrupt persons and how most members of his campaign organisation as individuals have been indicted for corruption.
"This is even more worrisome given allegations that the Buhari presidency and the APC are directly benefiting from the funds being looted under their watch, including the N9 trillion detailed in the leaked NNPC memo; the N33 billion North East intervention fund, the repatriated $322 million stolen under the guise of sharing to the poor, the over N25 billion stolen from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the over N1.4 trillion stolen through sleazy subsidy regimes among others."
The PPCO stressed that given "this damning revelation" by Oshiomhole, President Buhari no longer had the moral rectitude to seek re-election after he had betrayed Nigerians by failing to uphold the sanctity of the war against corruption as one of the major planks of his re-election campaign.
"Moreover, Oshiomhole and his co-travellers in his corruption roller coaster are reminded that they will soon lose their cover and definitely face trial for their atrocities as Nigerians have resolved to vote out their grand patron, President Buhari, from office on February 16, 2019," it stated.
The PDP campaign organisation urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to commence the investigation and prosecution of members of the APC campaign council as well as new entrants into the party as their "factional" National Chairman had already confessed that the party was a club of looters.
In the same vein, the Edo State chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, condemned a declaration by Oshiomhole that sins of defectors into the ruling party would be forgiven.
Orbih, on Friday, in Benin, insisted that Oshiomhole's "confession" proved the belief in some quarters that the APC was a collection of "hypocrites" who were out to witch-hunt members of the opposition under the guise of fighting corruption.
The Edo PDP chairman said Oshiomhole's declaration showed that those who do not belong to the APC are intimated and hounded on trump-up corruption charges so that they can join the party and have "their sins forgiven."
He said: "Nigerians must reject the APC and its pack of evildoers whose sins cannot be forgiven by mere political association. If they sin, they should seek the face of God for forgiveness. By this open declaration, Oshiomole has admitted that APC is a party of sinners.
